Waves Series

Ocean Waves Series

12317885_825080074271693_1257751074_n(1)Waves 1-4x6, Waves 2-5x12, Waves 3-6x9
This is a limited addition series I just finished this week. I started, like all good things, small and worked my way up.  My inspiration came from spending so much time on the water and near the water. It is impossible to resist using it as my muse.  These were all fairly quick to carve but more time consuming to ink as I used a ombre blue effect.

Love that ombre! I'm almost more excited about how my roller and pallet look!  On a larger scale I would like to work with more than one color but that may require a larger brayer (hint hint husband)
This series will be listed for sale when they are dry enough to ship on my website!

Lido

Wow! Finally finished! Jeeze its only been over 2 months of work.  This reduction linocut was inspired by the movement of the water when I was out kayaking off Ted Sperling Park at Lido's mangrove tunnels.  The ripples on the water coupled with the reflection of light is always a mesmerizing sight to behold!

Hanging to dry. For this reduction I printed with 6 different colors so that was 6 individual printing sessions.  Each color had to dry before I could print another color on top, some colors take longer than others to dry (ahemmm green).  Each print was hand pulled so there are slight variations in each print, another reason I loving printmaking. Every print is just a touch different than the last.  I will have this print listed for sale in my gallery on my webites, Jane Thurston Harris Art, once it is thoroughly dry, hopefully mid January 2016.

January 2016- 30 Paintings in 30 days

January 2016 30 in 30

I am excited to start on this journey!  The challenge…30 paintings in 30 days.  The challenge is not necessarily about completing 30 gallery quality paintings.  For me it is about breaking out of my mold and trying new things or things long past! Its about discipline to get into the studio everyday and see what happens, creating a habit committed to creating something each and every day.  From day 1 to day 30 the journey of living a creative life!
I will post each painting every day here and on Leslie Saeta’s blog site as she is hosting this challenge. The last daily painting challenge included 1500 artist in 27 different countries!
I am still working out my theme for the months challenge. So many ideas so much to choose from!
